How to Judge the Value of a Keyword
4 ways to determine a keywords value:
- Ask yourself: if the keyword researched is relevant to the websites content, and will the user find what they are looking for? Will traffic result in organizational goals?
If yes, proceed.
- Keyword Search in major search engines: Develop an understanding of what websites are also targeting a specific keyword, difficulty to rank keyword, and if there are any advertisements. Ads equal highly valued keyword, and a lot of ads means it is lucrative and conversion oriented.
- Buy a sample campaign for the keyword researched: track an “exact match” ad for 200-300 clicks to see how it goes.
- Using the results from 2&3 determine the value of each keyword.
For example, using an ad with 250 clicks and 5000 impressions you can see that your CTR is 5%.clicks / impressions = CTR
Now, lets say you received $1000 profit. A single visitor is worth $4.
