How to Judge the Value of a Keyword
4 ways to determine a keywords value:
- Ask yourself: if the keyword researched is relevant to the websites content, and will the user find what they are looking for? Will traffic result in organizational goals?
If yes, proceed.often times keyword research depends on multiple variations to find the most valuable ones. - Keyword Search in major search engines: Develop an understanding of what websites are also targeting a specific keyword, difficulty to rank keyword, and if there are any advertisements. Ads equal highly valued keyword, and a lot of ads means it is lucrative and conversion oriented.
- Buy a sample campaign for the keyword researched: track an “exact match” ad for 200-300 clicks to see how it goes.
- Using the results from 2&3 determine the value of each keyword.
For example, using an ad with 250 clicks and 5000 impressions you can see that your CTR is 5%.clicks / impressions = CTRNow, lets say you received $1000 profit. A single visitor is worth $4.
profit / clicks = cost per visit
With a #1 ranking click through rates will increase, which means more goals will be achieved.
